Jim began his career in the financial services industry in 1980 and founded Keystone Financial Partners in 1997, following his desire to help others protect and grow their hard-earned assets. After over 40 years of guiding clients on their life path, it was time for him to turn his attention to his own future plans. As Jim made plans to step away from the day-to-day operations of the firm, he wanted to ensure there was a transition plan in place that would ensure continuation of the high level of service his clients deserve. Jim knew Pathfinder CEO Jason Wheeler for over 10 years and knew their firms shared a passion for client service and comprehensive financial planning. The partnership was a natural fit for both firms and Pathfinder acquired Keystone Financial Partners in September 2022.

A North Carolina native, Jim grew up in Winston-Salem and is a graduate of North Carolina State University. He and his wife, Sandy, have spent the last 35+ years in Apex, North Carolina. They have two adult sons, Andrew, a graduate of Furman University and Nathan, a graduate from North Carolina State University.

As Jim transitions towards a new lifestyle next year, his time will be focused on teaching classes and leading public speaking events on key financial topics. He also looks forward to spending more time with his sons and grandsons, taking photographs, and watching the NC State Wolfpack.
